Corkizon Screencast: Navigation and Profile System
Are you an undiscovered artist wanting to showcase your skill, a starving musician with no venue, an out of work filmmaker in need of exposure, or a young and aspiring dancer looking for opportunities? In the world of social media all of these things become easier for the average individual to market and share on a global scale. To this date we have yet to find a website that caters well to the exposure, collaboration and discovery of talented individuals. Because of this, we set out to create Corkizon. A global talent database that connects you to the skills, talent, and creativity of people. It has search and filtering options that help you find what your looking for whether in Music, Film, Acting, Dance, Art, and a plethora of other fields. It is a home base to link your professional creative media in an online interactive resume.
As a talent creator a simple text resume doesn’t suffice. Inside Corkizon your resume is your profile and with it you can easily display all forms of digital media whether it be Photos, Documents, Videos, Music, and more.
The following principle is the foundation on which we built the Corkizon idea: Showcase, Connect, and Discover the skills, creativity and talent of individuals on a global level. For showcasing your work within the network we implemented a widgetized system that allows anyone to change the layout of their pages but not to the extent of hurting the presentation by having a poorly designed profile. If you need something on your profile, there is a widget for it! if you want to delete something, you simply remove the widget. By using a highly customizable widget system and restricting the complete design of a profile page, it puts creatives on an even playing field to showcase their talent. The connection factor of the site is embodied in the first page you see while logging into Corkizon; the Talent Feed. This activity feed allows you to first filter by people, and a secondary filter to limit by content. As for discovering creatives, the website allows you to easily find what your looking for through extensive filtering and search capabilities. For example, while looking for a type of musician most websites stop with the broad category of music, in our network you can again filter by a category of music, and than by a role, IE. Music->Performance->Violin.
Corkizon is a perfect marriage of the concept behind the Internet Movie Database and Linkedin; but not restricted to film and business professionals. It is open to everyone and in part to help the hidden talent within our world communities be seen, their ingenuity and creative aspirations to be appreciated by others, and to help creatives market themselves in an easier fashion than ever before.
By default Corkizon is an open profile system. A profile that allows you to display your talents to anyone that either finds you through a search engine, the search within the network, or by giving out the unique URL to your profile page. Although, we have also added extensive privacy options throughout the network allowing you to signup and hide your profile to friends only. As a non-creative you can share amongst colleagues, collaborate or sit back as a fan and be inspired by the media updates from your favorite talent creators as they come into your personal Talent Feed.
To help the privacy of everyone and maintain a level of professionalism we have left out the private and personal information that is shared through the average social networking sites like Facebook, Myspace, Bebo, Orkut, Hi5 etc… We have left social networking to them and have set out to take on the world of talent networking.
